The Lone Bellow in DC
The Renaissance Washington, DC Dupont Circle Hotel sponsored a one night only performance by The Lone Bellow in DC this past Wednesday night, July 22. The Brooklyn-based band released its first self-titled album in 2013. It climbed to #64 on the Billboard 200. Their second album entitled Then Came the Morning was released earlier this year. The band performed for about an hour, playing several songs from their two albums including top tracks “Then Came the Morning”, “You Never Need Nobody”, and “Two Sides of Lonely.”
The pre-concert party began with food and drink samplings courtesy of the hotel’s in-house catering and other local businesses. Bite-sized appetizers such as tuna tartare, grilled cheese sandwiches with tomato bisque soup, mahi-mahi fish tacos, and chips and salsa were continuously served all throughout the night. Kogiya, a Korean restaurant located in Annandale, brought with them a trio of meats that included beef bulgogi, miso marinated pork, and spicy pork belly for guests to sample. Sweet bites came in the form of the hotel’s homemade bread pudding.
Washington, D.C.’ New Columbia Distillers, makers of Green Hat Gin, featured their summer cocktails made with their signature bottle, The Rickey, while Alexandria-based Port City Brewery poured small glasses of their Optimal Wit, a Belgian-style white ale.
The special performance by The Lone Bellow in DC was the band’s last stop in the US this month before they head to Canada and the UK to perform at various music venues. To hear samples of their songs and to find out about tour dates, go to their website, The Lone Bellow.
