Jaleo Paella Festival
It was a festival of paella indeed! Five different types plus another seafood rice dish filled the tummies of over 200 people at Jaleo Crystal City tonight. The restaurant kicked off the 13th annual Jaleo Paella Festival, which will run from now until July 26. Within the two weeks, guests can taste their way through different types of paella including some new ones from visiting Barcelona chef, Quim Marqués.
A few of the featured types include paella Catalana, made with rice, seafood, vegetables, chicken, and pork, the paella Costilla, which includes barbecued pork ribs and bellota sausages, and the arroz de algas, another type of paella cooked with head on shrimp and cuttlefish.
In addition to the pans of paella brought out by legions of dedicated kitchen staff, there were also little nibbles like a watermelon appetizer and a goat cheese on endive as well as a steady array of wines, cocktails, and sangrias. There was live music and flamenco dancing too.
