Rant or Rave: The Royal DC

Rant or Rave: The Royal DC

The Royal DC There’s something about The Royal DC that intrigued me from the beginning. First, it offers Latin cuisine, something I’ve had a taste for lately because of my recent travels to South America. Second, was its intriguing bar décor particularly its chosen accessories, like an old fire hydrant…

It hasn’t even been a week and I saw myself back at Claudia’s Steakhouse, this time not just to nibble on canapés and hors d’oeuvres but to have the “full experience, “ as one would say. So here’s what happened. Claudia’s Steakhouse My colleague and I arrived exactly at 7…

Recap of Claudia’s Steakhouse Pre-Launch Party

Recap of Claudia’s Steakhouse Pre-Launch Party

Last night was the pre-launch party for one of the most anticipated summer restaurant openings here in Washington, D.C. The restaurant of course is Claudia’s Steakhouse, the Latin-infused steakhouse who caught the eyes of the public early on with its tantalizing and stimulating billboard posters. As it turns out, from what I saw, the restaurant is living up to its sexy and sleek reputation. Everything from the décor to the food itself was on par. The main dining room is swimming with white leather booths while the private dining area fills with a contemporary mix of white and charcoal gray seats. The hors d’oeuvres I sampled were all very good, but my favorite by far was the pork belly topped with chimichurri. The bite-size serving was bursting with flavors and had a particularly sublime texture. It literally melted inside my mouth.

Rant or Rave: Firefly D.C., Happy Hour Edition

Just to reiterate, this review is only for the happy hour menu. Where to begin? I sought out Firefly because it was one of the few bars that supposedly offered something special to celebrate the National Cherry Blossom Festival and because it has a nice outdoor patio seating. I met up with a friend for happy hour drinks. She lucked out and snagged a table for us despite a packed house. Little did I know, that single event would be the highlight of our evening. …

Budget Gourmet: Washington, DC

Budget Gourmet: Washington, DC

Fortunately, there are still some eateries in the Washington metro where you can stretch your $20 bucks and leave feeling satisfied. …

The Art Lover’s Guide to Tulsa

The Art Lover’s Guide to Tulsa

Anyone who categorizes Tulsa as just another city in Oklahoma has obviously not been there, because it happens to be one of the most artistically centered cities in the United States. Downtown is full of art deco-styled buildings built in the early 20th century by oil barons who made their fortune through oil rich fields. The neighboring Blue Dome District is made up of eight buildings, including one that was a gas station in the 1920s, and boasts a vibrant street art scene. Midtown Tulsa, near the world-class Philbrook Museum of Art, is full of streets lined with custom-designed houses. …
